WHAT’S UP WITH CMMC MIDWEST CONFERENCE?

CMMC Midwest Conference is a Wichita-based group, dedicated to promoting education, sharing resources, and fostering community for the Midwestern Defense Industrial Base, and others affected by the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.

We host conferences and smaller events throughout the year in order to foster the open exchange of ideas and strategies for cybersecurity and compliance; for everyone from the smallest OSC (Organization Seeking Compliance) to Prime Contractors,  Students and Educators, MSPs to C3PAOs to be able to learn, share, meet, and add value to their cybersecurity and compliance journey.

ABOUT US

The first CMMC Midwest Conference was held in 2021, the brainchild of Jonathan Sanchez and Tariq Azmi of Ember Technology. After Jonathan passed away unexpectedly the next year, the idea for the Conference was shelved.

Skip ahead to 2024, and with the rulemaking on CMMC getting closer, the time was right to restart the conference.  Tariq partnered with friends from WSU, WSU Tech, and Soteria Technology Solutions to make the newly reborn conference a reality.

In 2025, to solidify the mission of promoting community and education for the CMMC community, a non-profit entity was created to administer CMMC Midwest Conference, as well as future events and scholarship programs.

The Conference has grown from a half-day the first year to two days in 2025, and expanding outside Wichita in 2026.  We look forward to bringing the midwestern CMMC and DIB community more in the years to come.
